Home & Contents Insurance

If disaster strikes would you be in a position to replace your possessions, let alone your entire house? It’s important to speak with an experienced broker like Tudor to ensure that you’re properly covered for the roof over your head and for things you love. Many online home and contents insurers simply don’t take the time to ask the right questions and ensure that you’re adequately insured.

"Residential property worth up to $63 billion is at risk (from climate change) - and we believe this is likely to be an underestimate."
The Climate Institute, 2016

What is Home & Contents Insurance?

Home insurance can protect you from financial risk if your home is damaged or destroyed, and can also cover your homes contents if they are damaged, lost or stolen. You can take out cover for specific listed events only or for wider accidental cover, depending on your needs.

Why do I need it?

If your home and its contents were damaged or destroyed in a natural disaster or accident, or all your valuables were stolen, could you afford to replace them?

If not, we are here to help.

Home and contents insurance can even protect you against legal liability if someone is injured or killed on your property.

Who should be covered?

Tenants

All too often people who rent ignore the importance of contents insurance. It’s easy to underestimate the total value of all the things inside a home, excluding the building itself.

Home Owners

Your bank may require that you have insurance but all homes should be covered whether mortgaged, owned outright or bought for investment. Basic cover often isn’t enough for real peace-of-mind. You need to discuss your actual needs with someone who will take the the time to listen and formulate an insurance product that’s specific and affordable.

FAQs

How do I know if my home is underinsured?

If your sum insured is less than it would cost to rebuild your home today, you are underinsured. Rebuild cost is not what you paid or what the house would sell for. It includes demolition, debris removal, architects and engineers, council approvals and upgrades required by current building codes. Construction costs have risen sharply in recent years, and many sums insured have not kept pace. If you have renovated, extended or not reviewed your cover in a few years, it is worth checking.
